Meet Amelie Hunter:
Amelie is a lifelong mover and teacher. Amelie’s journey began in classical ballet and grew to embrace world dance traditions—from flamenco to Javanese, Korean, and Indian forms. She holds a MA in Ethnic Dance from UCLA and an MFA in Performance and Choreography from NYU, where she also began her Pilates studies with master teacher Kathy Grant.
For over twenty-five years, Amelie has shared her love of mindful movement as a dance and Pilates instructor at Orange Coast College, where she directed the Pilates Certificate Program for two decades. When arthritis led her to explore Tai Chi and Qigong, she immediately fell in love with them not only because they quickly brought her pain relief, stress reduction and a sense of well-being, but because she knew she would be able to share their benefits with others. She soon developed for her college a “Movement for Longevity” course, with a focus on better balance, stronger bones, pain reduction, joint mobility, heart and immune health, and a greater sense of peace.
Tai Chi and Qigong Profile:
Amelie has been studying Tai Chi and Qigong for over 13 years and teaching these practices for the past 10 years.
She is certified as a Level 2 Holden Qigong Teacher and as a Healer Within Medical Qigong Practice Leader through the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. She holds her Tai Chi Healthways Tai Chi Instructor certificate with Master Jesse Tsao, PHD. She has studied with Master Wing Cheung and Master Teacher Ryan Lee for certification in Shibashi 1, 2 and 3 forms of Tai Chi and Qigong. She is certified in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention through Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Health.
